Of all the skills anyone ever gave me, I never imagined knitting might be the skill that becomes the difference.
This is entirely a fundraising website, meant to help me lift myself- starting with the journey to get my mom's ashes to her hometown.
The Story
I have started this website through unimaginable tragedy that still has not ended for me yet. I have faced much in this life and even through the worst things, I have persevered with love and in God's care.
History in the Making
I have knitted since elementary school when teachers that weren't even my regular teachers, gave up their lunch to make sure I could add true value to this life. I have knitted on and off, ever since. Because they weren't my regular teachers, I don't even remember their names but I sure never forgot them.
I have missed taking pictures of easily half the things I've ever knitted. There are even pictures out there, of me knitting while walking on the beach and I have no idea what I was knitting.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, that makes every stitch worth a thousand more.
Ways to Help
Knitted Donations
Eventually, I would like fellow knitters to help with knitted items wherever I go. If someone needs a hat, let's give them 10. If someone needs a pillow, let's give them a blanket too.
Current Goals
In this section, there are both unfinished knitting items and things I am trying to achieve, like getting my mom's ashes to her hometown.

About FundKnitter
FundKnitter began when I was made homeless, though I didn't know that as I was getting evicted. In the years since, I have slept in my car and continued to leave this world a better place than I found it, no matter how many are against me. I even taught a person to knit, in a coffee shop since being homeless. Folks in another coffee shop are the reason I was inspired to start this website. They couldn't believe someone with this much talent had been made homeless. Don't worry, I can still barely believe it! Good thing I didn't tell them I wrote a book in my 20's or that I spent time painting in my 30's or that I wrote 8 albums worth of lyrics and learned to play the piano just to try to give the lyrics sound...
As I completed each knitted item, I started taking just the right picture. Almost always in a different setting than any of the other ones. I had no idea I was preparing myself for this moment now. If you need a reason to believe, there's one right there.
I did not know the plan, even as pressure to make a plan mounted. As it came down to do or die, I began searching for ways to help my skills work for me for a change. That lead me to an idea to provide dishcloths for anyone willing to donate to me. After a few road blocks and barriers, now I have started FundKnitter and though I am creative, talented and intelligent; I still do not know the plan. What I do know, is that I made a promise to my mother to get her ashes to her hometown and now that I have lost everything that survived the eviction too, it's time to go do this.
